Area Kentucky State Parks Offering Easter Events



FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Parks will be serving their annual Easter buffets March 31, and several parks are planning other special events.
 
The menu includes beef carved on the line, baked country ham, golden fried catfish and hushpuppies. The meal will also include fresh fruit, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, salad and desserts.
 
The price for adults is $18.49 and children (12 and under) are $8.49, not including tax. The price includes a beverage. (Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park and Pennyrile Forest State Park menu and pricing will vary)

John James Audubon State Park, Henderson
“Eggstravaganza” Art, March 23
Join John James Audubon State Park for the annual “Eggstravaganza,” March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children ages 3-7 can have a hoppin’ good time with “Funny Bunnies Art,” storytelling and some animal friends from Equestrian Enterprises.  Don’t miss all the fun at the John James Audubon Museum. Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora
Easter Egg Hunt, March 31
Kenlake State Resort Park in Aurora will offer an Easter egg hunt Sunday, March 31, at 2 p.m., on the front lawn of Kenlake Lodge. Prizes in different age categories will be given. (through age 12) The Easter Bunny will be here, so bring your camera. Egg hunt sponsored by the Hitching Post, Regal Limousine Service and Kenlake employees. The Easter buffet will be served in the Aurora Landing Restaurant from noon to 4 p.m. 1-800-325-0143.
 
Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Cadiz
“Egg-ceptional” Egg Hunt, March 31
Windows on the Water restaurant at Lake Barkley State Resort Park will offer its annual Easter buffet, March 31, from noon to 8 p.m. That afternoon, Lake Barkley showers the fields with eggs in its “Egg-ceptional” Egg Hunt! The Easter Bunny will make an appearance at 2:30 p.m., so don’t forget your camera! The egg hunt starts at 3 p.m. at the fitness center. Easter Egg Hunt, March 30
More than 1,000 eggs filled with candy or toys will be hidden for girls and boys under the age of 15. There will be different age categories, and eggs will be hidden in different areas for each category in the campground area. Prizes will be awarded. The hunt will start at noon at the large shelter in the campground. 1-270-657-2111.
 
Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, Dawson Springs
Easter “Eggcitement,” March 31
Make Easter “Eggciting” at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park! The park will feature its Easter buffet starting at noon. At 1:30 p.m., there will be Easter Bunny pictures ($2/picture) at the lodge, and at 2:30 p.m. there will be a free Easter egg hunt at the lodge. Events will go on rain or shine! The egg hunt is sponsored by the Friends of Pennyrile. More than 1,000 eggs will be hidden, split among four age divisions through age 12. Call 1-800-325-1711.
