Cruelty to Animal Case Investigated Monday in Daviess County

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a cruelty to animal case that took place today (Monday).
They say a complaint of a dog being dragged behind a pickup truck was taking place on Barley Road in Western Daviess County.
A suspect in the case, Gerald Bartley, told deputies he believed a stray dog killed his pet cat.  He then advised he tied the dog to a tree and was going to call animal control but the dog became aggressive, leading him to allegedly tie the dog to the trailer hitch on his pickup to lead it away from his property.
The Sheriff’s Department called Animal Control to pick up the dog for treatment of injuries.
No arrests have been made, but the case is being investigated as a torture of dog or cat.
