The new troopers were part of the agency’s third Law Enforcement Accelerated Program (LEAP), a condensed course for current police officers who have three years of Kentucky Police Officer Professional Standards (POPS) law enforcement experience. They started the 11-week training cycle on April 15, 2012 in a class that consisted of 48 cadets. Eight resigned during the weeks of constant mental and physical challenges that followed.
Trooper Cody A. Kromer is a 29-year-old native of Williamsport, PA. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to joining the KSP, he worked for the Providence (KY) Police Department. Trooper Kromer is assigned to Hopkins County.
Trooper Jonathan E. Murphy is a 27-year-old native of Madisonville, KY. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrated Studies from Murray State University. Prior to joining the KSP, he worked for the Madisonville Police Department. Trooper Murphy is assigned to Christian County.
Trooper M. Sean Wint is a 38-year-old native of Madisonville, KY. He attended Kentucky Community Tech College and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to joining the KSP, he worked for the Christian County Sheriff’s Department. Trooper Wint is assigned to Muhlenberg County.
The new troopers will undergo an extensive field-training period with experienced troopers for approximately 8 weeks. After the field-training period, they will begin their respective assignments.
