Lane Restrictions Planned on US 62 Green River Bridge
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the US 62 Green River Bridge at Rockport on Wednesday & Thursday, October 2 & 3, 2013.
The lane restriction is to allow a detailed inspection of the bridge. The inspection team will include the use of climbers and a Snooper Truck to examine the bridge structure.
Motorists can expect to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers from about 8:30 a.m., CDT, to about 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and inspection personnel are on the bridge deck in close proximity to traffic flow.
Also known as The Rockport Bridge, the US 62 Green River Bridge is at Muhlenberg County mile point 25.918 and Ohio County mile point 0.0. The 1,839 foot cantilevered Warren truss structure was opened to traffic in 1938. About 2,200 vehicles cross the US 62 Green River Bridge at Rockport in an average day. The bridge is at Green River navigation mile point 94.6.
