Madisonville, KY:-Madisonville Lions Club is pleased to report that free eye screening is now taking place in Hopkins County for children ages 2-6 years. To date, our KidSight team has partnered with local schools to screen 672 children, resulting in 49 referrals to their doctor for further eye examination.
Screening for children ages 2-6 is free and can determine the presence of eye disorders including far and nearsightedness, astigmatism, misaligned eyes, wandering eyes, and /or cataracts. All information is kept confidential with the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation.
With financial support through grants and fundraisers such as Pancake Day, the Madisonville Lions Club has obtained new cameras that can immediately detect whether a child needs to be referred to an eye doctor.
The Madisonville Lions Club will perform free eye screening during Kidapalooza on Saturday, October 26th from 10 am to 1 p.m. in downtown Madisonville.
Support of KidSight can also be given by purchasing a ticket to the Madisonville Lions Club Pancake Day which will be held Friday, October 25, 2013, 6 am to 6 pm at 505 Hospital Drive. All proceeds raised will be used to give the gift of sight to qualifying families in Hopkins County. Pancake Day tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any Lions Club member or on-site the day of the event.
