Traffic Stop in Daviess County Lands Hartford Man in Jail

A traffic stop in Daviess County Tuesday afternoon led to the arrest of a Hartford man.
A Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a pick up truck on West 2nd Street at Ewing Road due alleged reckless driving.  The driver, 29 year old Douglas J Witt, III, did not stop and drove to Warehouse Road where he fled from the truck.  Witt was later taken into custody on Yosemite Drive.
Witt admitted to Deputies that he took the vehicle about a month ago on the Owensboro Bypass.  The vehicle also had a stolen license plate.
Witt was arrested for numerous traffic charges, plus he was also wanted for warrants out of Hancock and Daviess Counties, unrelated to the traffic charges.
