The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department is warning the public of a phone scam hitting the area.
They have received complaints where people with loans at check cashing and payday advance stores are trying to gain personal information and often act like they are law enforcement investigating a crime.They also are informing the public they are located outside Kentucky and have federal jurisdiction.
The Sheriff’s office tells us they have investigated the complaints and the caller is not a law enforcement officer of any kind.
