Berry Plastics Returning to Madisonville

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear was in Madisonville today to join other economic development officials to welcome Berry Plastics back to the City.
The renewed plant will employ 420 people at an average wage of $17.60 per hour.  In addition, Berry Plastics projects an additional 331 indirect jobs resulting from the plant.
Berry Plastics shuttered the Madisonville plant earlier this year after buying it fro Rexam in 2011.  This resulted in the layoff of 120 employees.  Now, more than three-fold increase in employees is the result of Berry Plastics’ new product line CEO Jon Rich spoke about today.

The Madisonville plant should re-open again by mid 2013.
Berry Plastics has four other manufacturing facilities in Kentucky.
