Chain of Crashes in Madisonville Tuesday Lands Man in Jail

A Madisonville man was arrested after setting off a chain of crashes in the city Tuesday afternoon.
The string of events started with a pickup truck, driven by 41 year old Christopher Simms, left Pennyrile Park Apartments and struck a utility pole on South Kentucky Avenue, then disregarded a stop light at Arch and Main and was struck by a vehicle, driven by 53 year old Darla Workman of Dawson Springs.
That collision sent Workman’s vehicle into a third, driven by 61 year old Donna Edwards of Madisonville.
Simms’ truck continued on Arch Street and struck another utility pole then an embankment before finally ending its journey at the intersection of West Arch and Madison Avenue.
Simms, Workman and 51 year old Monte Workman were all transported to Baptist Health Madisonville where they were treated and released.
Simms was charged with first degree, aggravated DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, three counts of failure to render aid and disregarding a traffic control device.
