Madisonville, KY 1 Million Cups™, a program to engage, educate and connect entrepreneurs, is set to launch in Madisonville, KY on Wednesday, June 11th at 7:30am. Madisonville / Hopkins County is the first 1 Million Cups to begin in Kentucky.
1 Million Cups began in April 2012 in Kansas City, the hometown of its founding organization, Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
The program’s model is consistent in each location. Each Wednesday morning, two early-stage startups present their companies to an audience of mentors, advisers and other entrepreneurs. Each founder presents for six minutes and then fields audience questions, comments and suggestions for another 20 minutes.
Hopkins County entrepreneurs, innovators, funders and other interested community members will meet at 7:30am each Wednesday in the Brothers Barbecue Banquet Room, 1055 N Main St # 6, Madisonville, KY 42431
The inaugural week of 1 Million Cups in Madisonville will feature presentations by Jennie Gibson with Big City Market & Coffee Bar and Scott Laskowski with Lei Products.
In each 1 Million Cups’ city, local entrepreneurs drive the program as community organizers. Assuming the leadership roles in Madisonville are Marion Miller, owner of Complete Marketing Resources; Mark Lee, Owner of The Paragon; Les Hoover, President of Dr. Pepper.; and Aaron Spencer, Co-Owner of Arctic Refrigeration.
"We're bringing 1 Million Cups to the Madisonville community to provide a place for entrepreneurs to accelerate their learning, connect with one another and promote the companies they started right here," says Ruthann Padgett. "1 Million Cups will spark momentum and attention for the companies highlighted each week. It will provide a platform to showcase Madisonville’s entrepreneurial ideas locally, as well as regionally and nationally through the 1 Million Cups network."
