Exit Ramp Closure on Pennyrile Parkway in Madisonville Planned Saturday
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close the Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway northbound Exit ramp at the KY 70 Interchange in HOPKINS County on Saturday, June 21, 2014.
The northbound ramp from the Pennyrile Parkway to KY 70 at Madisonville Exit 42 will be closed on Saturday morning for asphalt paving as part of an ongoing rehabilitation project along the Pennyrile.
The KY 70 North Bound Exit Ramp is expected to close at 6:00 a.m., CDT, Saturday. It is expected to reopen to traffic around NOON on Saturday.
There will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour by continuing northward on the Pennyrile to the KY 281 Interchange at Madisonville Exit 44 and looping through the interchange to access KY 70 via the Pennyrile Parkway southbound.
This is part of an ongoing work zone for asphalt paving and rehabilitation along the Pennyrile Parkway from mile point 37.07 to mile point 42.418 in Hopkins County. This work zone runs from the Mortons Gap Interchange at Exit 37 to about the KY 70 Madisonville Interchange at Exit 42. This rehab project includes repairs to a land slip at the Exit 42 Interchange.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
Motorists should be alert for merging and slowing traffic as they approach this work zone.
Road Builders, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $2,663,988 highway improvement project. The anticipated completion date is June 30, 2014.
