Notes from Monday's Hopkins County School Board Meeting
Hopkins County school superintendant Linda Zellick will get a three percent raise. The pay increase was announced at last night's board meeting. It follows Zellichs' annual evaluation. Last night, the school board heard from Lisa Miller, tobacco coordinator for the Hopkins County health department. Miller urged the board to make hopkins county schools 100 percent smoke free. She said that there are 34 tobacco free school systems now in Kentucky. Board member Mike Morgan asked if the health department had a policy in mind if Marijuana was legalized. Also last night, the board of education voted to create six new positions. And facilities head Steve Gilliam said that dirt work had begun for the new Vocational school.
